Casa Alianza supporters around the world are putting purpose to their passions by supporting homeless and trafficked youth in their own way and at their own pace.

SLEEP OUT: CHALLENGE

CAMPAIGN: “IT’S NOT ALL ABOUT ME” SLEEP OUT

Julie, a parent in suburban Georgia who, along with her husband and some neighbors, created a local group for their tween sons  and their friends called, “It’s Not All About Me” to make a positive impact on their community. The group decided to take on the Sleep Out Challenge and spend one night sleeping outside so homeless kids don’t have to. They spread the word about their challenge, and raised over $500 for Covenant House. On the night of the Sleep Out, Julie gathered the kids for a simple meal (PB&J sandwiches) and set the stage, explaining that the night was about becoming advocates for homeless kids. Several parents volunteered to drive the boys to a few big box stores where they asked for their own cardboard boxes to sleep on. The boys also went door to door and invited neighbors to a candlelight vigil in the front yard, and as the sun set, the kids set up their “beds” in the backyard. They each brought a jacket, but no blankets, pillows, or sleeping bags. No additional food was offered during the night, even when the boys requested snacks. No one slept much that night, and by 5:30am when she asked if they were ready to get up, she got a resounding YES! They discussed how the night felt, and left with a new awareness of what homeless kids go through.

Salsa Event

CAMPAIGN: Salsa Event

Casa Alianza Mexico organized a salsa dance with the famous Salsa Venue in Mexico City “La Maraka”. We  invited all our donors to dance all night to help cover the food costs of a week. However, our volunteers and personnel enthusiastically stepped in to sell tickets to their family members, friends and acquaintances while they spoke about Casa Alianza’s Mission. In the end we raised $1,700.00 USD! It’s great when we join forces to have fun, help and raise awareness about children who suffered social neglect.

SPORTING EVENTS

CAMPAIGN: SOCCER TOURNANMENT

Casa Alianza joined forces this time with Soccer Solutions, an important enterprise which has soccer fields across Mexico City. The idea of this event was not only to invite people to a soccer tournament, but include our children in those teams, this means each team had 9 players and 3 of them were our children. This was an unique opportunity to include Socially Responsible Enterprises to form a team between co-workers. The enrollment cost included the uniforms, lunch and awards for all the teams. However the added value of this tournament was the opportunity to make our children part of the experience and practice sports with them. This activity contributes significantly to develop social skills, internalize values (such as teamwork) and cope with anxiety. The final result of this effort were the $______ raised by Casa Alianza and the enterprises.
