ASKING FOR DONATIONS: MAKE A SPECIFIC REQUEST

People feel more connected when they know what they are helping to fund, so try offering donation amounts and what they represent:

Facebook: Every day, Covenant House Michigan outreach specialists canvass neighborhoods in search of young people facing homelessness. Fueling an outreach van costs about $35 per day - donate to my page to help keep vans on the street. [insert personal campaign URL]

Twitter: Provide a week of meals with a gift of $50. Please support my campaign for @covenanthousemi [insert personal campaign URL]

ASKING FOR DONATIONS: GOAL-ORIENTED POSTS

Goal-oriented posts work, especially after you've collected approximately 1/3 of your goal. Try something like:

Facebook: With help from my generous friends, I've collected $X so far for Covenant House Michigan, but I still need to raise $Y to reach my goal. I need 4 people to donate $Z today to provide a safe space for young people facing homelessness Will you help me? [insert personal campaign URL]

Twitter: Update on progress, can’t believe how close I am to goal! Thanks for the support of me and @covenanthousemi. There is still time to donate! [insert personal campaign URL]

USE PHOTOS TO TELL STORIES

Think about the kinds of photos you already take, and figure out how to use them for a fundraising post:

#Foodstagram: Foodies! Add a caption to your pic letting followers know that $10 can feed a resident at Covenant House Michigan for a day.

#LOTD: When sharing an outfit, also share that the most-requested item of clothing at Covenant House -- “new socks, please.”

#Sunset: Who doesn’t love sharing an amazing view? Include an amazing stat - that thousands of young people can rest a little easier tonight because they have a safe place to sleep at Covenant House Michigan.
