PARTY WITH A PURPOSE

CAMPAIGN: JACK & JEAN'S BIRTHDAY

Jack and Jean wanted to celebrate their milestone birthdays with family and friends, but they wanted it to be a party with a purpose. In lieu of gifts, they asked guests to bring donations for Covenant House - and they did - their birthday party raised nearly $600!  It was a very happy birthday for Jack, Jean, and Covenant House.

TEAM UP FOR TEENS

CAMPAIGN: DUNK N' DONATE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

The Dunk N' Donate Charity Basketball Tournament was started by youth for youth! The tournament was a huge success - bring together 8 teams who raised over $3,000 dollars from registration fees and donations - but it was what happened after that was surprising and special. The tournament caught the attention of a local newspaper, who published an article about the group’s efforts. Someone who read the article was so inspired that they decided to hold a Zumbathon to support the basketball tournament and Covenant House, raising an additional $1,625! It’s amazing to watch what can happen when people set out to do good, and we’re so grateful to have been a part of it! Check out the Dunk N’ Donate campaign here - and stay tuned! They’ll be back next year to do it all again.

KIDS HELPING KIDS

CAMPAIGN: FUEL A VAN PROJECT

When confirmation students at Upper Ridgewood Community Church heard that kids their own age - in neighborhoods not that far away - were living on the streets, they wanted to do something. They created cardboard banks in the shape of a van - representing the Covenant House outreach vans that canvass dangerous neighborhoods in search of homeless kids - and appealed to the congregation to fill them with dollar bills and coins. "We're always told to be loving and kind to those who need us," they said, "so we wanted our confirmation project to help kids who are hungry and scared."
